WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) – Wheat Ridge police are hoping to find new information into Leann “Annie” Meyer’s death with an expanded search this week.

Meyer’s body was found in Park County on July 4 and the remains were identified on Monday. Police say they still have no suspects in her death.

Police have several people they are interested in, but nobody more so than Meyer’s former roommate, Melissa Miller. Miller hired a lawyer soon after Meyer’s disappearance and refuses to help in the investigation. Friends of Meyer’s confronted her April 6 and secretly caught the exchange on cellphone video.

“You guys are freaking ripping me apart, and I did nothing. I loved Annie more than any of you,” Miller is heard saying in the video.

Miller claims she’s cooperating with police.

“The next day I tried to kill myself, I don’t want to live without Annie. And I was in the hospital and the police were there that night,” Miller said “The next day in the paper it says I’m dodging the police. I’m like, ‘I have their cards, they were here last night talking with me.’ “

Miller is the last known person to have seen Meyer. Wheat Ridge police are only calling her a person of interest, but they continue to say she’s not talking to them.

“We’ve been investigating this for five months, we’ve certainly developed leads and obviously we’re very interested in Melissa Miller, but that’s as far as that’s goes right now,” said Wheat Ridge Investigations Commander Dave Pickett. “She’s invoked her Fifth Amendment rights, which are absolute. And so our ability to speak with her is nonexistent.”

Police have seen the cellphone video.

“So who’s this girl she supposedly left with?” Miller was asked by one of Meyer’s friends.

“I don’t know who she is. Her name is Kathy, and I thought you guys might know her,” Miller replied.

“Know her last name?” the friend asked.

“No, it was an Italian last name and she’d only done things with her twice,” Miller said.

Police say Miller is an integral part of the investigation.

“I have been searching for her every damn day. Do you know that every lead the cops get they say a tip? It was me,” Miller said.

Now that Meyer’s body has been found family and friends hope to find out what really happened.
